![]() ![]() I learned to fly trikes at Lido with a true master trike and hang glider pilot, Harry Agung. During the first week there we discovered Lido Airfield 70kms South of Jakarta. In early 1999 I relocated to Jakarta Indonesia where I served in a regional level assignments which took me to several locations throughout Asia. All hang gliding flights except when attending a static line towing clinic with Dynamic Flight in the flatlands at Birchip, were at mountain or coastal hill flying sites. From day one in Australia I was an active member of the Eastern Victoria Hang Gliding Club and the Western Victoria Hang Gliding Club and while my primary job always took priority I flew most weekends other than when I had work commitments. I was an intermediate rated hang glider pilot at that time under the BHPA (British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association) and the HGFA (Hang Gliding Federation of Australia) program. I was employed by a major international oilfield service company for over 35 years which provided an opportunity to work in various locations overseas, often on a commuter basis and also served in several permanent overseas assignments, so my home base was the UK until 1997 when we moved to Australia. We were also fortunately to have several coastal sites within 50miles from home which I flew frequently with the club over the years. I obtained my aerotow rating with Lejair shortly after getting my CP (Club Pilot) rating. All training was by static winch foot launch as were all subsequent flights with the local club NHGPC (Norfolk Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club) that operated at the same site as the school. I am proactive in promoting and representing hang gliding and coaching pilots of all levels and hold USHPA H-5 (Master Rated Pilot), Tandem and Advanced Instructor ratings and in 2012 received a USHPA (United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association) Commendation for contributions to the sport.Īdditionally, since 2006 I have provided aerotow towing services and tow planes to numerous national and international events including competitions, the WRE (World Record Encampment) and other notable projects.īegan flying WSC Trikes in early 1999 in Indonesia and in 2002 obtained a Private Pilot License PPL (M) from the CAA in the UK and in 2007 was the first of a handful of pilots in the USA to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate for Weight Shift Control when the FAA implemented the Light Sport rules and later obtained a FAA CFI (Federal Aviation Authority Certified Flight Instructor) rating for WSC.īegan hang gliding in the UK I started hang gliding in early 1995 at a local school (Lejair) in Fransham Norfolk in the UK. ![]() I have completed countless cross country soaring flights of over 50 miles including straight line, out and returns and triangle tasks, numerous flights over 100 miles, several flights over 130 miles, many flights over 150 miles and a few over 175 miles plus flights up to and over 200 miles and a personal best distance flight of 239 miles in July 2022. ![]() Started hang gliding in UK in early 1995, flew king posted gliders for ten years before transitioning to topless gliders in the US in 2005, held an advanced hang glider rating for over 13 years and at the time of writing had flown over 70 different sites in nine different countries. You’ll probably want to go for Pro because it includes the full set of tools and features. Qoppa PDF Studio, like so many of its rivals, comes in Standard and Pro versions. Note that the version you buy is specific to Windows or macOS, and it’s only if you buy the more expensive Bundle version that you get support for iPhone / iPad (the latter of which supports commenting with an Apple Pencil). The Pro version adds features such as Bates numbering and the ability to edit, delete, cut, copy, paste, and insert new text and images in scanned documents using OCR technology. Here’s how the two compare, and if you scroll down to the bottom of this page you’ll find the option to buy the Standard version which isn’t obvious if you use the link below for the main ‘buy now’ page. Though it’s far from obvious when you visit Wondershare’s website, there are Standard and Pro versions of PDFelement, and many people will find the cheaper Standard version included everything they need. Speaking of which, there are various options: you can subscribe for six months, a year or buy a perpetual license, which is good value if you know you’ll be editing PDFs for more than a year. There’s a free trial which adds a watermark to your documents, and it will only convert 5 pages of a document longer than 10 pages, so it’s not an alternative to paying. Plus, you can select and move images around at will, delete elements and import new images.Īs you’d expect from a paid-for product, it allows you to sign and protect documents as well as create forms. Unlike some PDF editors, which force you to cover existing text (like using Tippex) and then type over the top, PDFelement allows you to select and modify text just as you can in Word and is pretty good at recognising the original font that was used. On unprotected documents you can click the ‘Edit text’ button and do exactly that. ![]() We found this worked well, except for large Excel sheets since there’s no option to select just a portion of the sheet you want to import: it’s all or nothing. You can create a PDF from scratch, but can also import a Word, Excel or PowerPoint document. PDFelement Pro has evolved over the past couple of years and has a slick interface that’s intuitive and the tools are easy to use. Of course the major difference here is that you buy Power PDF outright, and this makes it a lot cheaper than Acrobat DC unless you only need to edit PDFs very occasionally, in which case you could start and stop an Acrobat subscription.īut for small businesses that deal with PDFs regularly, it’s a great choice. That may not be an issue for you, but it’s worth noting. There are versions for Windows and macOS, but not for phones or tablets. With Advanced you can redact information, apply Bates numbering to pages, export to various cloud storage services and have multiple people working on the same document at the same time, though this only works if they’re on the same local network, which somewhat limits its usefulness. It will also make scanned documents searchable using OCR. You can also edit text within PDFs, change images, annotate and more. Standard has the core features most people need, such as creating PDFs from various formats and combining multiple files into a single PDF. There are again two versions: Power PDF Standard and Power PDF Advanced. And that means you will be able to get up and running with it very quickly. Previously distributed under the Nuance brand, Kofax Power PDF is intuitive and easy to use, especially if you’re familiar with Microsoft Office. We’ve included apps with free trials here, but for zero-cost options you can read our roundup of the best free PDF editors which offer basic tools and might do the trick at a pinch. Most of them also provide advanced features including form creation, digital signature and ID certification, and collaborative review and commenting, that you generally don’t get with free PDF packages. ![]() You’ll have the best experience with a paid-for PDF editing app that runs on your laptop or PC, rather than uploading files to a website.Įach of the packages below will allow you to create PDFs from other types of files – including Word documents – but they also allow you to create new documents. Some online editors include DocFly, FormSwift PDF editor and SwifDoo. It can be worth trying a free editor to see if it has the tools and options to make the necessary edits, but they may put limits on the number of pages your document can have, the number of PDFs you can edit before paying and might put a watermark on each page when you save it. The answer depends on what you need to do with a PDF. There are plenty of them including lots of online editors. ![]() What about free PDF editors, we hear you ask. Visit a website for a compatible service such as Netflix or YouTube. To start a direct cast from your web browser, you need to use a compatible browser such as Chrome or Edge. How to Start a Direct Cast with Your Browser The benefit of this method is that it is extremely low overhead and doesn't rely on the initiating device to do any heavy lifting after the request is sent. The movie doesn't stream to your phone and then to the TV, the movie streams from the source (in this case Netflix's servers) direct to the Chromecast device. You can use an alternative remote solution, such as using SteamLink or GameStream to stream PC game content to your TV.įor example, when you use your phone to pick out a movie on Netflix and then sling it over to your TV by tapping the cast button in the Netflix app, your phone sends the message to your Chromecast or Chromecast-enabled TV and then removes itself from the equation. You can cast the content, such as with Netflix or Youtube, directly instead of by mirroring your PC.You should avoid mirroring your entire PC's screen when: You want to watch a video that is only available on your PC using an application that does not support Chromecasting.Ĭasting your entire desktop should only be used when you have to mirror the entire desktop to achieve your goal, however. You are casting to mirror your screen to display non-web-based content. You want to show off your entire desktop to a group to give a demonstration that includes elements outside the browser pane.Let's look at screen mirroring, or whole desktop casting, now to highlight when you should and shouldn't use it.Ĭasting your entire desktop to another display is best used for the following purposes. ![]() When Should (And When Shouldn't) You Cast Your Desktop?Įach style of casting content from your computer has positives and negatives. WOW! Has high latency in general, which makes it a good choice for gamers in particular. This is common with cable providers, since most users need a lot of download speed for streaming Netflix and videos, but only use upload bandwidth occasionally for activities like online gaming and Skype. If you already have the games on the PS4/PSVR then the leap forward isn’t enough to warrant another full price purchase. What’s a shame is that there is no upgrade option for Moss and Moss: Book II on the PS5/PSVR2, either free or paid. It’s a more immersive way of playing, though we’re sure some people will still prefer traditional gamepad controls for a platformer like this. Controller-wise, the PSVR2 build is closer to the Quest version, with the new controllers giving you the ability to simultaneously control Quill and work on puzzles. If you haven’t had the pleasure of playing Moss on PSVR or the Quest before, then the new version is easily the best looking one. Visually, these are the best looking versions of the games thus far, with improved textures, lighting, resolution and frame rates. So what do the PSVR2 versions offer that we haven’t seen before? Well, that depends on your frame of reference. The premise of controlling Quill, our hero mouse, through a series of dioramas is still magical – with you acting as the ‘reader’ who guides Quill through the story, controlling both Quill and moving objects in the environments during puzzles. In terms of content and gameplay, these are the same games we’ve reviewed before and that many VR enthusiasts will have played before. From that perspective alone, it’s a good time to migrate to a new generation, and if you never jumped aboard the Moss train you can get both games in a bundle for the PS5 as well, saving yourself a bit of money in the process. Luckily, it helps that they’ve been ported to most major headsets over the years, and now you can get them on PSVR2 as well.Īs we pointed out in our review of the PSVR version of Moss: Book II, it was an excellent game but also one in which Sony’s first headset showed its age. Our very first look at what PSVR2 can do came from two of our existing favorites in the VR realm – both Moss and Moss: Book II still rank among our all-time best and we consider them essential purchases for anyone with a headset.
